The Experience
The day starts at the White Temple, a modern Lanna-style structure renovated by a Thai national artist and decorated with mirror chips across its white surfaces. From there, the tour moves to the Golden Triangle, where a long-tail boat carries you along the Kong River to the point where Thailand, Myanmar and Laos meet—you'll stop at a Laos market to browse local products and take photographs. The Hall of Opium Museum, a private collection of objects and materials documenting opium history, comes next, followed by a visit to a small hill-tribe village where you can see the living spaces of Long Neck Karen, Pa long, Pa ka Yor, Akha and Yao communities and shop for local goods.
After lunch at a riverside restaurant with views over the water, the tour continues to the Blue Temple, known for its elegant blue designs, pearl-white Buddha image inside the Vihara, and giant angels standing at both the front and back of the structure. The return route includes a stop at the Laos border market and a Chinese business area in Laos. The entire day runs 10 to 11 hours in an air-conditioned vehicle with a driver covered by travel insurance up to 1 million THB. The guide speaks English and can adjust the pace or stops based on the group's interests or circumstances.
