The experience
The route starts in Moshi and heads into Tarangire National Park on day one, crossing the golden Maasai plains in a luxury 4x4. Tarangire is known as the elephants' paradise. You'll see them alongside zebras, giraffes, impalas and dik-diks moving through a landscape defined by massive baobab trees. You overnight at a lodge or campsite in the Manyara area.
Day two is an early start with hot beverages before the five-hour drive to Serengeti National Park, passing through the Ngorongoro highlands. The Serengeti's afternoon game drive puts you in the heart of Africa's largest wildlife concentration: all five big cats, wild dogs, hyenas, countless bird species and herds that stretch across the plains. Day three continues with a full morning game drive across the Serengeti before you head toward Ngorongoro Crater, watching for animals along the way.
The final day takes you into Ngorongoro Crater itself, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1979 and one of the world's best places to spot endangered black rhino. The crater floor holds soda ash lakes where flamingos gather, and the sheer density of wildlife in this enclosed landscape is unlike anywhere else on the route. Your safari ends in the late afternoon with the drive back to Moshi.
