The experience

This 4-day tour moves through the Northern Safari Circuit, each landscape built around different wildlife. Tarangire draws elephants and monkeys into forest and acacia woodland. Ngorongoro is a collapsed volcano ringed by a crater wall, and the floor inside holds a huge variety of animals in a space you can see all at once. Serengeti is open grassland that stretches to the horizon and holds 3 million animals. The plains here are where cheetahs, leopards and lions hunt.

You travel with a professional driver-guide who navigates the parks and explains what you are seeing. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included throughout, as is all transport and every park fee. The guide speaks your choice of English, Spanish, French or German. Pickup is included, and the minimum age is 18.

This is a camping safari, so you sleep in a tent each night. The itinerary is fixed, which means the route and the stops are set. You move through the three parks on a schedule built around the best times to see wildlife. Government park fees can increase during the tour, and that cost passes to you at checkout.

Top questions

What languages is the guide in?

Live guide in English, Spanish, French and German.

What animals will I actually see on a 4-day Serengeti safari?

The Serengeti grasslands hold lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes and countless other species across 3 million animals. Tarangire adds monkeys in the forest canopy and elephants among acacias. Ngorongoro crater, a collapsed volcano, concentrates a huge variety of animals on its floor, so you see multiple species in one location.

Does the guide stay with the group the whole time, or is this self-guided?

A professional driver-guide stays with you throughout the 4 days, navigating the parks and explaining the wildlife and landscape. The guide speaks English, Spanish, French or German, depending on which language you choose at booking.

What meals are included, and do I need to bring my own food?

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included every day of the safari. You do not need to bring food, though you can bring snacks or drinks if you prefer. Alcoholic beverages are not included.

Is this a private tour or a shared group safari?

The tour operates as a group safari, so you travel with other passengers. The group size is kept small to fit the camping setup and the vehicle.

What is camping like on this safari, and what gear do I need to bring?

You sleep in a tent each night at established campsites in or near the parks. Bring warm layers for early mornings and evenings, sun protection for the daytime, and sturdy walking shoes. The operator provides the tent and the camping setup. You bring personal items, toiletries and any medications you need.

How much should I budget for tips, and what else is not included?

Tips are not included. The guideline is US$20 per person per day for the guide. Alcoholic beverages, international flights, extra accommodation before or after the tour, personal items like souvenirs and travel insurance, and visa fees are your own expense.
