The experience

The tour starts with a hotel pickup and a direct drive to Tarangire National Park, where you spend the first afternoon and evening on game drives. Herds of elephants (sometimes 10 to 20, occasionally up to 30) move through the park's landscape, and you'll also watch for leopards in the trees, buffalo, impala, zebras, warthogs and giraffes. You camp at Tarangire Campsite and return to the park the next morning after breakfast.

On day two, you leave early and travel through Manyara and the rift valley escarpment toward Serengeti National Park, with an optional stop at a Masai village along the way. A game drive happens in the evening before you reach Seronera Campsite. Day three begins at 6 am with a sunrise game drive across Serengeti's open plains. You return to camp for a full breakfast and lunch, then continue driving toward Ngorongoro Conservation Area, stopping for another game drive en route to Ngorongoro Simba Campsite.

The final day takes you down to the crater floor, 650 meters below the rim, for a half-day game tour where you may spot rhinoceros among the permanent resident animals that live there year-round because water is always present. After lunch at the rim, you drive back to Arusha or directly to the airport, ending the safari.
