You launch from a mountainside and fly like a bird for the first time in your life.

Paraglide over three protected landscapes on Tenerife (Barranco del Infierno, Ifonche and Corona Forestal) with a licensed pilot who handles the flight while you experience free flight from 1,000m elevation. After hotel pickup and a few short steps of instruction, you launch into the air, drift over native terrain and scattered farmhouses, then land at La Enramada Beach in La Caleta. The whole outing takes about two hours.

The experience

What makes this different from watching a landscape is that you're inside it, moving through the air above it. The flight starts at 1,000m above sea level: high enough that the terrain below reads as a whole. You'll see the Roques del Conde and Imoque rock formations, part of the old Adeje massif, and the terraced crops and scattered farmhouses that sit between the mountains and the coast. The pilot handles all the technical work. Your job is to follow a few simple instructions, take a few short steps, and then you're airborne.

A vehicle picks you up at your hotel or meeting point and drives you to the takeoff site. Once there, the pilot fits you with the flight equipment. It's straightforward gear, nothing complicated. After that brief setup, you're ready. The actual sensation of launching and flying is what stays with people: the shift from standing on solid ground to moving through open air, the view expanding as you climb, the silence of unpowered flight. You land at La Enramada Beach, and the same vehicle brings you back to where you started.
