Parasailing Tenerife: 1000m tandem flight with experienced pilot

Float over Tenerife's beaches and thermal updrafts with a pilot who has flown the island for over 20 years

A tandem paragliding flight above South Tenerife with a 1000m takeoff and 20–40 minutes of airtime, departing from Costa Adeje with pickup included. You'll be fitted with a harness and helmet, briefed on takeoff and landing, then launch from a hillside and glide over beaches and thermal currents while your pilot points out landmarks and lets you try the controls if you wish.

The experience

The experience starts with a pickup in an air-conditioned Mercedes Vito that carries you to the launch point in the hills above South Tenerife. Once there, you're fitted with a harness, helmet and GoPro camera, then briefed on what happens during takeoff, flight and landing. After a few quick steps down the slope, you leave the ground and float into the air. The harness holds you securely while your pilot helps you settle and find your balance.

Your pilot then works to locate thermal updrafts that can push you higher and extend your flight beyond the standard 20–40 minutes. Throughout the flight, you get a running commentary on the landscape below: the beaches, the coastline, the way the wind moves across the terrain. If you want to, your pilot will guide you through handling the glider's controls so you can feel how it responds. The whole time, the GoPro captures what you see from the air.

The landing is designed to be soft: weather permitting, you'll touch down on the sand of La Caleta beach, where the sound of Atlantic waves marks the end of the flight. You'll land on your feet and walk away with footage of the flight and a memory that stays with you for days afterward. The whole outing, from pickup to landing, takes about two hours.

What's it like to take off in a paraglider?

Can I actually fly the paraglider myself, or do I just sit there?

Your pilot handles the flight, but if you wish, you can try the controls with close guidance and help from your instructor so you feel how the glider responds to input.

How high do you go on the SILVER flight?

The SILVER flight launches from 1000m altitude and uses thermal updrafts to climb higher if conditions allow, extending your airtime and giving you views across a wider stretch of the island.

What happens if the weather doesn't cooperate?

Airsports Tenerife has been flying since 1988 and has over 20 years of experience reading the island's weather patterns, which helps them choose safe flying days and times. If conditions aren't suitable, they'll reschedule your flight.

Where do you land?

Weather permitting, you'll land on the soft sand of La Caleta beach on the south coast, where you touch down on your feet as the Atlantic waves break nearby.
