Milan Cooking Class: Make Pasta & Tiramisu in a Local Home
Roll pasta by hand, cook it, and eat what you made, plus tiramisu for dessert.
A hands-on cooking class in a Milanese home where you learn to roll fresh sfoglia by hand, prepare two traditional pasta shapes from scratch, and make tiramisu. The class runs three hours with a maximum of twelve people, a Cesarina guide in English or Italian, and includes an Italian aperitivo, the pasta dishes you cook, tiramisu, and beverages.
The experience
You start with prosecco and nibbles in the Cesarina's home, then move straight to the pasta. The core of the class is learning to hand-roll sfoglia. The fresh dough that becomes tagliatelle, gnocchi, ravioli or whatever the season calls for. You make two different shapes from scratch, dress them with a simple sauce, and cook them right there. The Cesarina walks you through each step. The class stays small, capped at twelve people, so there's room to ask and to watch closely.
After the pasta comes tiramisu. You layer it yourself (the coffee-soaked ladyfingers, the mascarpone cream), so you understand how the thing actually comes together instead of just tasting it. Everything you make, you eat: the two pasta dishes you cooked, the tiramisu you assembled, all served with water, wine and coffee. It's three hours total, and the Cesarina's home is where it happens, which is the point. You're cooking in someone's kitchen, not in a classroom or a restaurant kitchen rented out for the afternoon.
The class runs in English or Italian depending on the guide. Public transportation reaches the location, so you don't need a car to get there.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and Italian.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (4 to 8 years); Infant (under 4): free.
What two pasta shapes will I learn to make?
The Cesarina teaches you to hand-roll sfoglia and prepare two traditional pasta types (tagliatelle, gnocchi, or ravioli) depending on the season and what the guide chooses that day. Both are cooked and dressed with a simple sauce right in the kitchen.
Is tiramisu the only dessert, or do I make other things too?
Tiramisu is the dessert you make in the class. You layer it yourself from scratch (the coffee, the mascarpone, the ladyfingers), so you see how it's built. The aperitivo at the start includes prosecco and nibbles, but tiramisu is the only sweet dish you prepare.
How many people are usually in the class?
The class has a maximum of twelve people, so it stays small enough for hands-on instruction and for you to ask questions as you work.
What do I get to take home, or do I eat everything there?
You eat everything you make during the class (the two pasta dishes and the tiramisu) in the Cesarina's home. Nothing is packaged to take away. The meal is part of the experience.
Do I need to know how to cook already?
No prior cooking experience is needed. The Cesarina teaches you from the beginning how to roll the dough, shape the pasta, and layer the tiramisu. The class is hands-on instruction, so you learn by doing.
