The experience
You're picked up around 10 a.m. from your hotel or Tasso Square in Sorrento, a ten-minute drive from the farmhouse. The morning starts with cappuccino and pastries while you meet the chef and learn what the Amalfi Coast kitchen is actually built on: the seasons, the sea, what grows in the soil around you. Then you walk into the garden and harvest vegetables with your hands: zucchini flowers, salads, whatever is ready that day. That produce, plus locally made cheese and meat and fish that arrived that morning, is what you'll cook with.
The hands-on cooking takes up the bulk of the class. You'll make homemade pasta or ravioli from scratch, learning the technique the chef uses; prepare a fish or meat main course with vegetables from the garden; build a regional dessert like caprese cake or tiramisu. The menu shifts with the season and what's available, so no two classes are identical. As you work, the chef teaches you the recipes and the reasoning: how the Campania region builds flavor, why the steps matter, what you can recreate at home. Wine, olive oil and limoncello come into the picture too, so you understand what the region drinks and produces.
Once everything is cooked, you sit down to eat it. The farmhouse family joins you for lunch, local wine flows, and the view settles in. You're back at your hotel by 3:30 p.m., carrying the muscle memory of how to make these dishes and the taste of what you made.

Is this one for you?Book this class if you're staying in Sorrento without a rental car: pickup is built in, so you don't arrange transport to a farmhouse in the hills. The five-hour window fits a free morning or afternoon, and you leave with recipes you can actually cook at home, not just memories of watching someone else work.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and Italian.
What exactly do I cook in the Sorrento cooking class?
You make homemade pasta or ravioli, a fish or meat main course with garden vegetables, a regional vegetable or salad dish, and a Neapolitan dessert like caprese cake or tiramisu. The chef decides the specifics based on what's in season and what the farmhouse has on hand that day.
Do I pick the ingredients myself, or are they already prepared?
You walk into the organic garden and pick the vegetables with your hands: zucchini flowers, salads and other produce depending on the season. The cheese, meat and fish are sourced locally and arrive fresh. You work with them as they come.
Is the cooking class suitable for someone with no kitchen experience?
Yes. The class is hands-on instruction from the chef, so you learn as you go. No prior cooking skill is required. The chef teaches you the techniques and the reasoning behind each step.
What happens after the cooking is finished?
You sit down to eat the lunch you've prepared, accompanied by local wine. The farmhouse family joins you for the meal, and you have views of the surrounding hills. The class ends around 3:30 p.m., when you're transferred back to your hotel.
Can I request vegetarian dishes or tell the chef about dietary needs?
Yes. Vegetarian options are available on request, and you can specify any dietary requirements when you book. Let the operator know what you need ahead of time.
How do I get to the farmhouse from my Sorrento hotel?
Private transfer pickup is included. A driver collects you from your hotel or Tasso Square around 10 a.m. and brings you back after lunch, around 3:30 p.m. The farmhouse is ten minutes away from central Sorrento.
