Step-by-step itinerary
Volcano, Coffee, Tea, and Hot Spring Tour
- Visit rice fields and meet farmers
- Taste local fruits at fruit market
- Explore active volcano and Ratu Crater
- Learn and taste luwak coffee
- Tour tea factory and plantation
- Relax at hot spring soaking feet
The experience
The day starts with rice fields and a local village stop in Subang Regency, where you meet farmers, see how paddies grow, and taste seasonal fruit at a roadside market. From there, the route passes rubber and tea plantations before reaching the volcano in Bandung: part of Indonesia's Ring of Fire and still active. You trek to the Ratu Crater, the main crater, close enough to smell sulfur and watch fumes rise from the crater itself.
Next is the government tea factory in Subang, which processes 80 tons of tea daily. You walk through the plantation, learn the step-by-step process from leaf to package (if the factory is running, it closes Mondays), and taste the black tea while looking out over the valley. The luwak coffee stop comes after: you see how this expensive Indonesian coffee is made and taste it. The day ends at Sari Ater hot spring, where sulfur-rich mineral water flows from the volcano. You can soak your feet or wade into the pool before the drive back to Jakarta.
The tour runs 10 to 12 hours with an air-conditioned vehicle, bottled water throughout, and all entrance tickets included. Your guide speaks English and handles the route. You bring nothing but comfortable shoes and a change of clothes for the hot spring.
