The experience

Udaipur City Palace is the largest palace complex in Rajasthan, begun by Maharana Udai Singh in 1559 and finished by his successors in the 18th century. The tour starts there, then moves to Shree Jagdish Temple, a three-story, 79-foot-high shrine to Lord Vishnu built in 1651 by Maharana Jagat Singhji and still managed by the royal family. From there you reach Dudh Talai on the banks of Lake Pichola, where you can walk the shoreline to spot birds, rest in gardens, or watch musical fountains while looking out at Jagmandir Island Palace, Lake Palace, and the Aravalli ranges.

The route also takes in the Vintage and Classic Car Collection Museum, Fateh Sagar Lake, Saheliyon Ki Bari (a garden built for the royal women), Moti Magari, and Sukhadiya Circle. An air-conditioned vehicle handles the transport between stops, and your driver speaks English. If you book the guide option, an English-speaking guide travels with you to explain what you're seeing. Without that option, the driver handles the route alone. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included, so you start and end at your accommodation.
