The experience

The day starts at 5am with pickup from your Pune hotel. You're driven to the airport, board a domestic flight to Delhi, then spend three hours on the expressway to Agra. By evening you visit Mehtab Bagh: the Moonlight Garden on the Yamuna's far bank, designed by Shah Jahan as a viewing spot away from crowds. It's a photo tour of the Taj from across the river, not the monument itself yet.

Day two begins at 6am. Your guide takes you to the Taj Mahal for sunrise, when the ivory-white marble shifts color as light hits it. The monument is closed Fridays. After sunrise you return to the hotel for breakfast, then visit the Agra Fort: a UNESCO site of red sandstone with courtyards, mosques and private chambers that map the Mughal Empire's story. A golf cart carries you to and from the Taj. Lunch happens before the drive back to Delhi and your flight home.

The tour runs with a live guide who speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French or four other languages. All transfers use air-conditioned private vehicles. Water bottles travel with you throughout. Monument fees, tolls, taxes, parking and the driver's night charges are included. If you book with a hotel option, breakfast and one night on twin sharing are part of the price. Lunch on day two is included in all options.
