The Experience

The tour starts with a 5-hour drive from Marsa Alam to Luxor in an air-conditioned vehicle, with lunch waiting at your hotel when you arrive. Day one focuses on the west bank: the Valley of the Kings, where pharaohs including Tutankhamun and Ramses II were buried in tombs carved into desert rock over 3,000 years ago; the Hatshepsut Temple, a terraced mortuary complex built into the Theban Mountains for one of Egypt's few female pharaohs; and a felucca ride at sunset, drifting past the Luxor Temple and Karnak Complex on the Nile in a traditional wooden sailboat.

Day two explores the east bank starting at Karnak Temple, one of the largest religious complexes ever built, constructed over 1,500 years by successive pharaohs. You then visit Luxor Temple in the city center, originally built in the 14th century BC and expanded by rulers including Tutankhamun and Ramses II. Breakfast and lunch are included both days, along with bottled water and an overnight stay at a 3-star hotel (upgradeable to four or five stars at checkout).

An English-speaking guide accompanies you throughout, and the itinerary suits all fitness levels. Hotel pickup and return transport from Marsa Alam are included, so you don't arrange your own transfer.
