You get picked up from your Sharm el Sheikh hotel and driven to Cairo in an air-conditioned bus with an Egyptologist guide who explains the Giza Pyramids, the Great Sphinx, and the Egyptian Museum's artifacts as you move through them. Lunch is included, entry fees are covered, and the optional Nile boat ride costs extra. The bus drops you back at your hotel in the evening, so you don't arrange transport, tickets, or timing yourself.
The bus horn sounds at your hotel before dawn, and you're rolling north through the desert toward Cairo while the sky is still dark. By the time the Giza Pyramids come into view, the light has shifted enough that you can see the scale of them — not from photographs, but from the window, getting closer. Your Egyptologist guide meets you at the plateau and walks you through what you're looking at: the construction, the pharaohs, the limestone blocks that still fit so tightly you can't slide a knife between them. The Great Pyramid is the one that's actually open to walk inside on this tour, and the passage is narrow and low, so you're moving slowly, deliberately, through stone that's been there for 4,500 years.
After the pyramids, you stop at the Great Sphinx — the limestone face with the lion's body, weathered and enormous — and then the bus takes you into Cairo proper. The Egyptian Museum is where the day slows down. Thousands of artifacts fill the rooms: gold, statues, papyrus, and the treasures from Tutankhamun's tomb, which are the reason most people come to this museum in the first place. You move through at your own pace while your guide points out the pieces that matter, tells you the stories behind them. If there's time and you want it, Khan El Khalili Bazaar is the last stop — the old market in Islamic Cairo, narrow lanes, vendors, the sound and smell of the place. It's chaotic in the best way, and nothing like the museum.
Lunch happens somewhere in the middle of the day, included, so you're not hunting for food or negotiating prices. The optional Nile River boat ride is separate — 10 euros per person if you want it — and it gives you a different angle on the city, water instead of streets. The whole day is long, around twelve hours from pickup to drop-off, and you're sitting on a bus for a good chunk of it, but the air conditioning works and the driver knows the route. By evening you're back at your hotel in Sharm el Sheikh, and you've seen the three things Egypt is famous for: the pyramids, the sphinx, and the museum.
