The experience

The cruise departs Aswan with a visit to the High Dam and Philae Temple on the first afternoon, then sails south toward Luxor over the next two days. Day two includes Kom Ombo Temple, shared by two gods. Day three brings you to Edfu Temple at 7am, followed by the afternoon visit to Karnak and Luxor Temples. The final morning covers the West Bank sites (Valley of the Kings, Temple of Hatshepsut, and the Colossi of Memnon) before transfer to Luxor airport or hotel.

Your guide is a professional Egyptologist who travels with the group throughout, explaining the history and architecture at each stop. The ship itself is your accommodation: you sleep on board all three nights in a 5-star deluxe cabin, with breakfast, lunch, and dinner included daily. Afternoon tea, evening disco parties, and a galabia party (traditional dress celebration) are part of the onboard experience. Bottled water is provided each day during sightseeing.

Pickup from Aswan airport, station, or hotel is included, as is the final transfer from Luxor. All entrance fees to the temples and monuments listed in the itinerary are covered. The only optional cost is the hot air balloon ride at sunrise on day four, which requires separate payment.

Is this one for you?The cruise sails downriver at a leisurely pace with guided stops at each temple. Days begin early (7am at Edfu) but involve walking at a moderate level through open-air sites. Choose this itinerary if you want the major West Bank monuments and the river journey itself as part of the experience, rather than a land-based tour that covers the same sites from a hotel base.
