The experience
The zipline section happens first: you're harnessed to a cable and pushed off from each of eight platforms, flying over the Caves Branch River and the rainforest canopy below. The guides brief you on technique before you launch, and the whole run takes about 30 minutes. From the air you can spot spider monkeys and kinkajous moving through the trees, and you get a bird's-eye view of the geological features that make this site one of Belize's top attractions.
After the zipline, you hike for about 30 minutes to the cave entrance, then float through the Caves Branch system on a tube. A headlamp lights the way as you drift past cave fish, stalactites hanging from the ceiling, and Mayan paintings left high on the rock walls. The cave network stretches nearly 19 miles through the valley, and you move through it at a slow pace, taking in the scale and the silence.
The full outing runs 4 to 8 hours depending on the group and the water level. Lunch and refreshments are included, along with a fruit bowl. Bring extra clothes to change into after the water sections, sunscreen, bug spray, and a camera if you want to capture the canopy or the cave paintings. Sturdy shoes or water shoes work best for both sections.

Is this one for you?Book this if you want both the adrenaline of ziplining and the slow, underground exploration of the caves in one outing. The combination means you experience the site from two completely different angles (airborne and submerged) in a single day, and the guide leads both sections so you don't navigate on your own.

Top questions
What languages is the guide in?
Live guide in English and Spanish.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Youth (13 to 17 years); Child (4 to 12 years). Under 4: they can't be included in the booking.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What happens if I'm not comfortable with heights or ziplining?
The activity is suitable for all physical fitness levels according to the operator, and children as young as 4 can participate if they meet the 40-inch minimum height. The guides instruct you on technique before each launch. If ziplining is not for you, the cave tubing portion is a separate, grounded experience that does not involve heights.
Is the cave tubing difficult or does it require swimming?
You float through the caves on a tube with a headlamp. No swimming is required. The pace is slow and the water carries you, so it is a passive drift through the cavern system rather than an active swim.
What are the Mayan paintings in the caves like?
The paintings are situated high on the cave ceilings and are visible by headlamp as you float through. They are part of the Pre-Hispanic human history of the site, which was declared a 15.5-acre archaeological reserve by the Belize government in 2010.
Do I need to arrange my own transport to Caves Branch?
Hotel pickup is included in the tour package, so transport to and from the site is handled for you. The site is located at mile 37 on the George Price Highway, west of San Ignacio.
