Step-by-step itinerary
Kayaking and zipline adventure
- Drive 20 minutes to cave entrance
- Pass through orange orchard spotting wildlife
- Kayak through 5 caves for 7 miles
- Stop for lunch with mountain and river views
- Swim in clear river water
- Complete zipline adventure with 10 platforms and 7 runs
The experience
The day starts with a 25-minute drive through an orange orchard to the kayak drop-in point, where you enter the first of five cave systems. You paddle 7 miles total through chambers filled with stalactite and stalagmite formations, navigating small rapids that beginners can handle safely during the dry season. The caves are known as Belize's best natural attractions, and the route gives you time to absorb the scale of each chamber without rushing through.
Midway through, you stop for lunch on the riverbank with views of the cave entrance and the surrounding mountains, and you get time to swim in the river before paddling the remaining caves. Once you finish kayaking, the zipline course takes about an hour: 10 platforms connected by 7 runs that let you move through the canopy above the same landscape you just paddled through below.
The whole experience is private, so the pace stays relaxed and unhurried. Your guide speaks English or Spanish, and all kayaking and ziplining equipment comes with you. You'll need at least moderate fitness for the paddling and the physical demands of the zipline platforms, and the activity is not suitable for travelers with spinal injuries, pregnancy, or cardiovascular concerns.
