The experience

What does a day at an elephant sanctuary actually look like? You start with a safety briefing, then meet the elephants and hear about each one: their personality, their history, how they're cared for. You'll prepare their food and feed them by hand, watching them eat and interact. Then you walk alongside them through the natural forest environment, observing them at a respectful distance while they move and graze. Depending on the elephants' comfort and the day's conditions, you may also help with gentle water care. The experience ends with fresh seasonal fruit and bottled water.

The sanctuary is family-run and has been operating for more than 20 years on Koh Lanta. Your guide speaks English and will explain the elephants' individual behavior and daily needs throughout the visit. Everything you pay goes directly to support the elephants' food, veterinary care, the mahouts who work with them, and their long-term well-being. There's no riding, no performances, and no artificial setups. Just the elephants in their natural forest environment and the people who care for them.

Hotel pickup is included, so you don't need to arrange transport to the sanctuary. The whole experience takes two hours. Bring comfortable walking shoes for the uneven forest paths. Accident insurance and bottled water are covered.
