The experience

The safari starts with pickup from your Doha location in an air-conditioned 4x4 vehicle. You head out of the city and into the open desert, where the landscape shifts to golden sand dunes stretching in every direction. The driver handles the dune bashing (maneuvering the vehicle across the rugged terrain at angles that make the ride itself the thrill), while you experience the raw scale of the desert from inside the vehicle.

The first stop is a camp area where you encounter a camel and a falcon, take photographs, and rest with coffee and tea. From there, the route continues to Sealine Beach, known for its panoramic 360-degree views of sand and sea. This is where you try sandboarding on the dunes yourself, no experience needed. The afternoon finishes at the Inland Sea (Khor al Adaid), a natural inlet of the Persian Gulf surrounded by towering sand dunes on the border between Qatar and Saudi Arabia. You watch the sunset over the water before the drive back to your location.

The whole experience runs four to five hours. Bottled water is provided throughout. The vehicle is shared with other travelers unless you book a private option. Infants and young children ride along but don't participate in dune bashing or sandboarding. Specialized infant seats are available if you need one.
