The experience
The safari starts with hotel pickup and heads into Qatar's desert interior. Once on the dunes, your driver handles the dune bashing: the vehicle climbs and descends the steep sand slopes while you sit back in the air-conditioned cabin. The pace and intensity depend on your comfort level. The driver reads the group and adjusts. Between runs, you'll stop for a camel ride across the flatter stretches of sand, moving at the animal's own rhythm across the landscape.
The route culminates at the Inland Sea (Khor Al Adaid), a rare geographic meeting point where the desert ends and seawater begins at the Saudi Arabian border. The light shifts as the sun drops toward the horizon, and this is when most groups photograph the contrast: golden sand, blue water, and the sky changing color. Along the way, you'll have the chance to try sandboarding on a dune face, meet a falcon up close, and sit in a traditional Arab camp setting where the guide serves coffee and tea. Bottled water is provided throughout.
The tour runs four hours total. Quad bikes are available as an add-on if you want to drive your own vehicle across the dunes instead of riding as a passenger. Camel rides can also be added separately if they're not part of your chosen package. The group size and vehicle type depend on whether you book the private option or the half-day shared tour. Both follow the same route and include the same core stops.
Is this one for you?Book the private option if your group wants the vehicle and guide to themselves. Choose the half-day shared tour if you're traveling solo or in a pair and prefer to split the cost with other travelers. Both follow the same route and stops, so the choice is about group size and budget, not the experience itself.

What is the Inland Sea and why is it worth the drive?
The Inland Sea (Khor Al Adaid) is a natural lagoon at Qatar's border with Saudi Arabia where the desert sand meets open seawater: a rare sight that exists nowhere else in the region. The contrast between the two landscapes is most striking at sunset, which is when the safari times its arrival there.

What's included to eat and drink during the four hours?
The tour includes bottled water throughout the afternoon and traditional Arabic coffee and tea served at the desert camp. Lunch and dinner are not included, so plan accordingly if you're booking a time that overlaps a meal.
