The experience
The tour begins at 7 AM each morning with pickup from your Amman hotel. Day one covers the city's Amman Citadel (site of a Roman temple, Byzantine church and Umayyad palace), and the Roman Theatre dating to when the city was called Philadelphia, then moves north to Jerash, one of the world's largest and best-preserved Roman sites outside Italy. The final stop is Ajloun Castle, built by Saladin's army in 1184–1188 on a strategic hilltop overlooking the Jordan Valley. You return to Amman for the night.
Day two heads south to Madaba to see the 6th-century mosaic map of the Holy Land in the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George, then Mount Nebo, home to the memorial church of Moses and views across the Jordan Valley. By 1 PM you arrive at the Baptism Site, Bethany beyond the Jordan, on the eastern bank of the River Jordan, believed to be where Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. The site includes ancient churches and baptismal pools. Day three takes you through Dana Biosphere Reserve, Jordan's largest nature reserve, then to Shobak Castle, a Crusader fortress from 1115 perched on a dramatic hill with views across the landscape. By afternoon you reach Little Petra (Siq al-Barid), a smaller, quieter counterpart to Petra with Nabatean rock-cut tombs and intricate carvings. You stay near Petra that night.
Day four is devoted to Petra, the UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Wonders of the World built in the 3rd century BC by the Nabateans. You explore the Djinn Blocks, the Treasury (Al Khazna) (nearly 40 meters high with Corinthian capitals and friezes) the famous Siq water canyon, and other significant locations within the ancient city. By 5 PM you reach Wadi Rum, also called the Valley of the Moon, where you spend the night in a Bedouin-style camp with traditional open-buffet dinner including Zarb cooked in an underground oven. Optional activities include a 2-hour 4x4 jeep tour with your driver, camel riding, sunset yoga, or stargazing.
Day five departs Wadi Rum at 8 AM and crosses through Aqaba, Jordan's coastal city on the Red Sea, where you can optionally swim and snorkel for two hours before continuing to the Dead Sea: the lowest point on Earth. You spend the afternoon and evening floating in the mineral-rich water at a 5-star hotel with an included meal and overnight stay. The final morning includes breakfast at the Dead Sea, a visit to the Dead Sea Product Market to see minerals and mud derived from the waters, then return to Amman.

The 6-day span lets you move through Jordan's sites without rushing (each major attraction gets its own morning or full day), so you're not jumping between regions every few hours.
