The experience
The tour starts in Amman with a trip briefing, then moves north to Jerash for a guided walk through one of the best-preserved Roman cities in the Middle East: the Oval Plaza, Hadrian's Arch, and the Temple of Artemis stand largely intact. From there, Ajloun Castle, a 12th-century fortress built by Saladin's forces, sits on a hilltop with panoramic views of the Jordan Valley. Day two heads south to Madaba, known as the City of Mosaics for the 6th-century Map of the Holy Land at St. George's Church, then to Mt. Nebo, the biblical site where Moses viewed the Promised Land, with the Dead Sea and Jordan Valley spread below. Al-karak Castle, another 12th-century stronghold, closes the day before the overnight in Wadi Musa.
Day three is Petra: a full day exploring the Treasury, the Siq (the narrow canyon approach), the Monastery, and other archaeological sites carved into rose-red cliffs. The afternoon moves into Wadi Rum, a desert landscape of red dunes and towering rock formations called the Valley of the Moon, where you stay overnight in a Bedouin camp. Day four runs a 4x4 guided jeep tour through Wadi Rum's canyons, rock formations, and ancient inscriptions before heading to the Dead Sea. You float in the mineral-rich waters (the high salt content makes buoyancy effortless), and stay overnight there. The final day returns to Amman for a city tour: the Citadel (Roman, Byzantine, and Umayyad ruins), the Roman Theatre, and Downtown's markets and cafes.

Is this one for you?Five days is long enough to move through four distinct regions (the Roman north, the biblical center, Petra's carved cliffs, and the desert) without rushing the stops, but short enough to fit into a week-long trip to Jordan. If you have more time, a 7-day version adds depth. If you have less, a 3-day tour covers fewer sites.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, French, German and Greek.
What is Petra like when you arrive to explore it?
Petra is an ancient city carved directly into rose-red cliffs, with the Treasury (a carved facade) and the Siq (a narrow canyon entrance) among the most recognizable features. You spend a full day walking through the site with your guide, seeing the Monastery and other archaeological structures built into the rock face itself.
How does the Wadi Rum overnight work?
Wadi Rum is a desert landscape of red dunes and towering cliffs where you stay in a Bedouin camp. The day includes a 4x4 guided jeep tour exploring rock formations, canyons, and ancient inscriptions before and after the overnight, so you experience the desert both by vehicle and on foot.
What happens at the Dead Sea?
The Dead Sea's mineral-rich waters are so dense that you float effortlessly without effort. You have an overnight stay there after the jeep tour ends, giving you time to experience the water and rest before the final day's return to Amman.
Does the tour include meals and accommodation?
Meals and accommodation are not included in the tour price. The Bedouin camp stay in Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea overnight are part of the itinerary, but you arrange and pay for lodging separately. Admission fees to archaeological sites are also separate. The Jordan Pass is recommended to cover multiple site entries.
