Make gelato from scratch in a Verona kitchen, then eat what you've built

A hands-on gelato and semifreddo class in Verona where you prepare ingredients, learn churning and pasteurization techniques from a local chef, and taste your own frozen desserts with the group. The class runs two hours and includes an apron, recipe book, and all ingredients; children are welcome with an adult. Minimum two participants required.

The Experience

Verona's gelato class starts with you in the kitchen alongside the chef, not watching from the side. You'll prepare fresh fruits, spices and seasonal ingredients, then learn the specific techniques—churning, egg pasteurization, flavor balancing—that separate artisanal gelato from the supermarket version. The chef guides you step-by-step through mixing and freezing your own batch, so you understand what makes Italian gelato taste the way it does.

Alongside the gelato, you'll make semifreddo, the traditional frozen dessert built with seasonal fresh fruits and cream. By the end of the two-hour class, both are ready to eat. You'll taste your hand-made desserts with the rest of the small group in the cozy kitchen, and you'll leave with a recipe book so you can recreate both at home for family and friends.

The class runs rain or shine and needs a minimum of two people to go ahead. Kids are welcome as long as an adult is there with them. If you have any food allergies or intolerances, let the operator know when you book so they can adjust the ingredients.

What’s included

  • Use of an apron.
  • a recipe book to take home.
  • all ingredients for both gelato and semifreddo.
  • instruction from a professional chef in English.
  • your finished gelato and semifreddo to taste with the group.

Operated by Ways

Is this one for you?A small-group class with a local chef means you learn by doing, not by watching—the chef works alongside you, corrects your technique in real time, and answers questions as they come up, so you leave knowing how to make gelato, not just having watched someone else make it.

Top questions

What exactly do I learn to make in this gelato class?

You make two things: artisanal gelato from scratch, learning techniques like churning and egg pasteurization to build flavor; and semifreddo, the traditional Italian frozen dessert made with seasonal fresh fruits and cream. Both are ready to eat by the end of the class.

Do I get to eat what I make?

Yes. Once your gelato and semifreddo are frozen and ready, you taste them with the rest of the small group in the kitchen at the end of the class.

Can I bring my kids to this class?

Children are welcome and the class is designed to be kid-friendly. Any child under 18 must be accompanied by an adult during the class.

Will I get the recipes to make gelato at home?

Yes. You receive a recipe book during the class with instructions for both gelato and semifreddo, so you can recreate them at home for your family and friends.

How long does the class take?

The class runs for two hours. You'll spend that time preparing ingredients, learning techniques from the chef, making both gelato and semifreddo, and tasting what you've made together.

What if I have a food allergy?

Tell the operator about any food intolerance or allergy when you book. They'll adjust the ingredients so you can still make and taste the gelato and semifreddo safely.
