Cantine De Angelis, the oldest winery in Sorrento, offers a three-hour vineyard walk and wine tasting on 22 hectares of land at Capo di Sorrento. You're picked up in the town center, shuttled to the estate, guided through organic vegetable gardens, a lemon grove, and historic Roman cisterns, then arrive at the vineyard producing Aglianico and Piedirosso wines. The experience ends with a tasting of six wines paired with local cheeses, cured meats, ricotta, eggplant rolls, grilled vegetables and rustic cakes under a pergola overlooking the sea. A guide in English or Italian leads the walk; children from age 4 are welcome.

The Experience

The appointment starts at Cantine De Angelis on Via Marziale in central Sorrento, where a shuttle takes you to Capo di Sorrento and the Relais Regina Giovanna estate. From there, a guide walks you across 22 hectares of land that drops toward the Gulf. You pass through the vegetable garden—organic crops only—then into the lemon grove, and stop at Roman-era cisterns built into the hillside. The route carries you to the vineyard itself, where the vines producing Penisola Sorrentina DOP Sorrento grow in sight of the water.

Along the way, the guide explains the secrets of viticulture here, the stories and legends tied to the territory, and the biodiversity that makes the land work. You learn what the soil and the sea-facing slope do for the grapes. By the time you reach the pergola at Pane&Olio restaurant, you've walked the land that made what you're about to drink.

The tasting itself pairs six De Angelis wines with a spread of 0-kilometer products: fiordilatte mozzarella, cured meats and cheeses, flavored ricottas, eggplant rolls, grilled seasonal vegetables, and rustic cakes and pizzas. The shuttle brings you back to the starting point in Sorrento when it's done. The whole experience runs three hours.
