You taste five different producers' work before lunch, then learn why Taurasi wine matters from someone who makes it.

A private full-day food and wine tour from Sorrento that takes you through the Avellino countryside to family-owned producers of olive oil, cured meat, chocolate and wine. You visit production facilities, taste at each stop, sit down to a 3-course regional lunch with house wine, and end the afternoon at a winery in Taurasi village where a sommelier walks you through award-winning wines and vineyard views. Hotel pickup and drop-off included; the tour runs about 8.5 hours.

The Experience

Your minivan leaves your Sorrento hotel in the morning and climbs into the mountains of Partenio Regional Park, then descends into the Avellino valley, where vineyard-covered slopes and peaks frame the countryside. The route itself is the introduction: you're moving through the landscape that produces what you'll taste. Once you reach the rural heart, the day settles into a rhythm of stops—each one a working facility, not a museum. You start at an olive orchard, walk through the oil mill to see the production process, then sit in the tasting room with a selection of their oils. The next stop is a prosciutto factory, where you move from raw pork legs through the curing rooms to the finished product, then taste slices. A traditional nougat and chocolate factory follows, built around seasonal specialties like Easter candy, with a tasting of their work.

Lunch arrives at a local restaurant as a 3-course meal of regional specialties that shift with the season, washed down with house wine and finished with coffee or a digestif. This is not a rushed tasting plate; you sit and eat. The afternoon pivots to wine. You travel to Taurasi village, home to one of Italy's most notable wines—the Taurasi DOCG—and a professional sommelier guides you through a tasting session, explaining winemaking in the Avellino province and the complex flavors in the glass. A second tasting follows at a winery built from ancient materials, where you can step onto the terrace to look out over the vineyards while you drink. The drive back to Sorrento is the cool-down; you arrive in the evening.

The tour is private, so the pace and the stops belong to your group alone. Your guide speaks English and handles all the logistics—hotel pickup, transport in an air-conditioned minivan, and the route through the producers. You can take home any products you especially enjoy from the tastings. Dietary requests can be noted at booking so the lunch works for your table.

The tour includes tastings at five producers: olive oil selections at an orchard's mill, prosciutto slices at a cured meat factory, chocolate and nougat treats at a traditional candy maker, and two separate wine tastings in Taurasi—one led by a sommelier at a prestigious venue and a second at a winery with vineyard views. Lunch is a separate 3-course meal at a local restaurant.

How long does the Campania tour take and what time does it start?

The tour runs about 8.5 hours total. It begins with hotel pickup in the morning from your Sorrento accommodation and ends in the evening when you return.

Is the drive from Sorrento to Avellino part of the tour, or just travel time?

The drive is part of the experience. You travel through the lowlands alongside Mt Vesuvius, ascend into Partenio Regional Park, and descend into the Avellino valley surrounded by vineyard-covered slopes—the landscape itself sets up what you'll taste later.

What is Taurasi wine and why does the tour end there?

Taurasi DOCG is one of Italy's most notable wines, produced in the Avellino province where your tour is based. The final stop is a winery in Taurasi village where a professional sommelier explains the winemaking process and the wine's complex flavors while you taste, with views of the vineyards from the terrace.

Can I buy products from the producers I visit?

Yes. You can take home any products you especially enjoy from the tastings at the olive oil mill, prosciutto factory, chocolate maker or wineries.

Does this tour work for dietary restrictions or children?

The tour accommodates dietary requests if you note them in the Special Requirements field when booking. Kids can enjoy soft drinks and juice with their 3-course lunch instead of house wine.
