Make three Romagna dishes in one afternoon, then sit down to eat them

A private cooking class in Rimini where you learn to prepare one of three traditional Romagna dishes (piadina, tagliatelle or passatelli) under the instruction of chef Maria, then taste your work over lunch or dinner with wine, water, soft drinks, a sweet and coffee. The class runs 90 minutes and includes all cooking tools, a buffet aperitif beforehand, and a chef's apron to take home. The guide speaks English, Italian, Czech, Russian and one additional language.

The experience

You arrive at the kitchen for a buffet aperitif, then spend the next hour and a half learning one dish of your choice. If you pick piadina, you'll make the flatbread from scratch and choose a filling: raw stracchino ham and rocket, marinated sardines and radicchio, or seasonal vegetables for vegetarians. For tagliatelle or passatelli, you'll prepare the fresh pasta first, then chef Maria walks you through the sauce: ragù, clams, or seasonal vegetables. The tools are all there. The apron is yours to keep.

Once the cooking is done, you sit at the table with the other students and eat what you've made together. Wine, water and soft drinks flow throughout, and the meal ends with a homemade sweet and coffee. The whole experience is built around learning the techniques that matter in Romagna cooking, not just following steps: Maria answers questions and explains the reasoning behind each part of the process.

Top questions

What languages is the tour guided in?

Live guide in English, Italian, Czech, Russian and Slovak.

Can children come?

Yes. Ticket types: Youth (12 to 29 years); Child (under 12): free.

What's the difference between the three dishes I can choose to cook?

Piadina is a filled flatbread you make and cook on a griddle, ready to eat immediately with your choice of filling. Tagliatelle and passatelli are both fresh egg pasta shapes, but tagliatelle is the ribbon noodle and passatelli is a thinner, more delicate form. Both are finished with a sauce you choose: ragù, clams, or seasonal vegetables.

Do I need cooking experience to join this class?

No. Chef Maria teaches from the beginning, and the class is built around learning the traditional techniques step by step. You'll be making everything by hand, so there's no assumption of prior skill.

What happens after we cook? Do we eat right away?

Yes. Once the dish is ready, you sit down at the table with the other students and eat together. The meal includes wine, water, soft drinks, a homemade sweet and coffee, so it's a full lunch or dinner depending on the time of day.

Is the class private, or do I cook with other people?

You cook with other students in the same kitchen, then share the meal together at the table. The class itself is not one-on-one instruction, but it stays small enough that Maria can work with each person on their technique.
