The experience
Your driver picks you up at the Livorno cruise port and drives you to Florence, where a professional art historian takes over for a three-hour guided tour. You start at the Accademia Gallery with timed entry to see Michelangelo's David, then move through the city's landmarks: the Florence Duomo with its distinctive dome, the ancient Piazza della Repubblica, Palazzo Vecchio (the city hall), and Piazza della Signoria with its famous statues. The route crosses the Ponte Vecchio, Florence's oldest bridge, and includes a stop at Piazzale Michelangelo on the way out of the city: a panoramic viewpoint the driver mentions as one of the most beautiful spots overlooking Florence.
After Florence, the driver stops in Pisa so you can spend free time at the Leaning Tower and explore the piazza and surrounding sights at your own pace. The entire excursion runs eight to nine hours, timed to get you back to your ship before departure. Transport is by air-conditioned minivan, and the driver speaks English throughout. A dress code applies inside churches and museums: knees and shoulders must be covered for both men and women, and no shorts or sleeveless tops are permitted.
At booking, cruise passengers must provide the ship name, docking time, disembarkation time and re-boarding time so the tour can be scheduled around your ship's schedule. Each traveler needs a valid passport or ID matching the name on the booking voucher for entry to the Accademia Gallery. Flash photography is not allowed inside museums and churches, and food cannot be brought into these spaces.

Is this one for you?Choose the Livorno departure if your ship docks there, or La Spezia if that's your port: both routes cover the same Florence and Pisa highlights, so the choice depends only on where you're disembarking. The fixed three-hour guided portion in Florence and the free time in Pisa fit inside a single port call, so you'll be back before your ship leaves.

Top questions
What exactly is inside the Accademia Gallery that I'll see?
Michelangelo's David is the centerpiece: the marble statue stands in its own room at the Accademia. The gallery also holds other Renaissance works, and the art historian guide provides context during the visit as part of the three-hour Florence tour.
How much free time do I have in Pisa at the Leaning Tower?
The itinerary gives you a few hours of free time in Pisa to explore the tower, the piazza and the surrounding sights at your own pace before returning to the ship.
Is lunch included, and where do we eat?
Lunch is not included in this tour. You'll have free time in Pisa where you can eat at local restaurants, but you'll need to budget time and money for a meal on your own.
What's the difference between the Livorno and La Spezia departure options?
You choose your port of arrival at checkout (either Livorno or La Spezia), and the driver picks you up there and returns you to the same port. Both routes visit Florence and Pisa. The only difference is which cruise port you depart from.
Do I need to dress a certain way to enter the museums and churches?
Yes. Knees and shoulders must be covered for both men and women: no shorts or sleeveless tops. Failure to comply with the dress code may result in denied entry to the Accademia Gallery and other religious sites on the tour.
Can I take photos inside the museums and churches?
Photography is allowed during the tour, but flash is not permitted inside museums and churches. Food also cannot be brought into these spaces.
