The experience

The Leaning Tower sits in Pisa's Piazza dei Miracoli, a short drive inland from Livorno. The tour picks you up at the port, drives through the city to show the main sights, then stops at the piazza so you can walk around the tower and the cathedral complex. From there, the route heads north toward the coast and the villages of Cinque Terre, which cling to steep cliffs above the Ligurian Sea.

Once you reach the Cinque Terre area, you have two ways to move between the five villages. The train from La Spezia runs along the coast and stops at each village in sequence. The ferry from Portovenere travels by water and gives you views of the cliffs and water from the sea itself. Both let you hop on and off to walk through the tiny alleys, see the fishing boats and terraced vineyards, and hear about the area's history. The driver waits and brings you back to Livorno at the end of the day. Tickets for either the train or the ferry are not included and must be bought separately.

The vehicle is air-conditioned and equipped with WiFi. Bottled water is provided. Your driver speaks English and stays with the vehicle throughout the day, so you don't navigate the train or ferry schedule yourself. You just decide which one suits you and board it when you're ready to move on.
