The experience
The Leaning Tower stands in Piazza dei Miracoli, Pisa's most recognizable square, where you'll have time to photograph it against the Duomo and Baptistery. Before that, your driver takes you on a short car tour past the Arno river and through Piazza dei Cavalieri, the city's second major square, which served as the seat of the Knights of Santo Stefano from the sixteenth century onward. Entry to the Tower and Cathedral costs extra and is arranged separately. Many travelers photograph from the square itself and move on.
After Pisa, the route heads toward the coast and into the Cinque Terre. Riomaggiore comes first: the village famous for its vertical tower houses that rise directly from the small port, their facades stacked in narrow bands of color above the water. Manarola follows, built on terraced vineyards that cascade down the hillside and considered one of the oldest settlements in the territory. Both villages are part of the UNESCO Cinque Terre National Park. The tour also passes through Portovenere, a medieval fishing village at the end of the Gulf of Poets, with its own UNESCO designation and a "palisade" of colorful houses facing the sea.
Your driver speaks English and the vehicle carries WiFi and bottled water throughout the nine-hour day. The audio guide is available in English and Spanish. Pickup and return happen at your Livorno location, and the vehicle is air-conditioned.

Is this one for you?At nine hours, this tour fills most of a port day and leaves little room for other stops in Livorno itself. Book it if the Cinque Terre villages and Pisa's monuments are your priority and you want a single vehicle and driver for the whole route. If you prefer to stay closer to the port or split your time between multiple towns, a shorter excursion would suit better.
