The Experience

The first thing I remember is the hush — that odd museum quiet, but also something heavier, like everyone was holding their breath in the Uffizi. Our guide, Elena, waved us over to Botticelli’s “Birth of Venus” and I swear you could almost smell the old wood frames and varnish. She told us a story about Medici parties in these halls (I got distracted by the way the light hit the marble floor).
