Step-by-step itinerary

  • Make tiramisù or local dessert
  • Enjoy unlimited Tuscan wine

The Experience

You walk in and the kitchen smells like flour and basil. Not the fake kind — you can actually see the little garden outside where we picked the sage earlier, which I didn’t expect. Our chef, Paolo, handed me an apron that was way too big (he just shrugged and said “Italian size!”) and we all laughed before getting our hands into the dough. There’s something about kneading pasta from scratch in Florence that makes you forget you’re technically a tourist — or maybe it’s the first glass of wine they pour before you even start chopping.

I tried to roll out tagliatelle as thin as Paolo showed us but mine looked more like fat shoelaces. He grinned and told me not to worry — “It’s about love, not perfection.” The butter and sage ravioli sizzled on the stove while people chatted in a mix of English, Italian, and something in between. At one point someone spilled flour everywhere and nobody cared. The window was open so you could hear scooters buzzing down the street outside, but inside it felt calm. Warm, too — probably from the oven or maybe just all of us crowded around one table.

Making tiramisù was easier than I thought (Paolo insisted on extra espresso), though I’m still not sure if I’ll ever get it right at home. We finally sat down together for lunch — big bowls of pasta, glasses refilled without asking, stories traded across the table even if we’d only met two hours ago. It wasn’t fancy but it felt like being invited to someone’s Sunday meal. I still think about that first bite of ravioli; somehow everything tasted brighter here.

What’s included

Your day includes a hands-on pasta-making lesson in a Florentine kitchen with all ingredients provided, unlimited Tuscan wine poured throughout the experience, fresh herbs picked from a private garden, guidance from an English-speaking chef, insider food tips for Florence, plus a generous family-style lunch where everyone shares what they’ve cooked before heading back out into the city.
