The experience

You arrive at Casa Emma, an organic estate in the heart of Chianti Classico, and step into a practical cooking session with a live guide in English. The class focuses on two things: rolling and shaping fresh pasta (ravioli and tagliatelle or gnocchi) and building an authentic tiramisu, using seasonal ingredients simple enough to recreate at home. You work directly overlooking the vineyards and olive groves that define the estate's production. The landscape is part of the lesson.

Once you finish cooking, lunch begins. You eat the pasta and tiramisu you made, starting with Tuscan appetizers of prosciutto, salame and pecorino cheese. Each course pairs with a tasting of the estate's Chianti Classico wines. You also taste the extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar made on the property, learning how the winery combines its own products with traditional food. The whole experience runs four hours and moves at the Tuscan pace: time to prepare, time to sit together, time to linger.

An apron and some Chianti Classico gadgets are yours to take home, along with the recipes from the class. The terrace is wheelchair accessible, as are all areas and surfaces. Specialized infant seats are available if you're traveling with small children, and service animals are welcome.
