The experience
The course runs three days and covers everything a beginner needs to dive safely to 18 meters. Day one happens in a pool in Sanur, where you learn the fundamentals in confined water under your instructor's watch. Days two and three move to the ocean: you'll complete two dives each day in Sanur Bay, Padang Bai or Tulamben depending on conditions that morning, or Nusa Penida if you choose that option. The theory work happens online through PADI's e-learning platform before you arrive or woven into the three days themselves, then reviewed in person with your instructor.
Your certified, insured instructor is familiar with the local reefs and their habitats, and stays with your small group throughout. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included, along with all scuba equipment, lunch, the PADI manual and your certification card at the end. The academy has operated in Bali since 1991 and maintains a 100% safety record.
