The experience

The guide speaks English and shares what to watch for in the sky, though the Northern Lights are a natural occurrence and no one can promise they'll appear on your night. You'll wear a full thermal overall, boots and gloves provided, so the cold stays outside your clothes. The whole experience runs three hours from start to finish, and you'll need to arrive 30 minutes early to get geared up and briefed.

If you want to drive, you must be at least 18 and bring your physical driving license: copies and digital versions don't count under Finnish law. Two adults can share one snowmobile, or you can pay extra to ride alone. Children aged 4 to 14 paying child price travel in a sleigh towed behind the guide's machine. Kids over 140 cm tall can ride as a passenger on a snowmobile if they pay adult price. Children 7 and under need an adult in the sleigh with them.
