The Experience
Your guide meets you at Alexandria Port with an air-conditioned vehicle and drives you to Cairo, a journey of approximately 2.5 hours. At the Giza Plateau, you stand at the base of the Great Pyramid of Khufu while your Egyptologist explains its construction and history, then move to the panoramic viewpoint where all three pyramids align for a single photograph. A short walk brings you to the Great Sphinx, carved from a single limestone outcrop over 4,500 years ago. Your guide covers its disputed true age, what it represents, and the centuries of restoration that shaped it, with time for photos from the dedicated viewing platform.
From there you head to the Grand Egyptian Museum, opened in November 2025 and the largest archaeological museum ever built. Your Egyptologist walks you through the soaring atrium past the towering statue of Ramses II, up the Grand Staircase lined with royal monuments, and into the Tutankhamun galleries. His complete collection (the gold mask, the chariots, the throne, the canopic shrines) is displayed together for the first time in history, with stories told by someone who actually studied them. Lunch follows at a quality local restaurant before the return drive to your ship, timed to give you a two-hour buffer before sail-away.
The group stays small by design: maximum eight travelers per departure, and often the tour runs for your party alone. Your guide is a licensed Egyptologist fluent in English and available in Spanish, Italian, French and several other languages. Soda, bottled water, all entrance fees to the Giza Plateau, Sphinx and Grand Egyptian Museum, and lunch are included.
