The Experience

The tour starts the moment you exit your ship at Safaga Port, where your guide meets you for the drive to Luxor. Day one focuses on the East Bank: Karnak Temple, the largest temple complex ever built, sprawls across 247 acres and includes three main temples, smaller enclosed temples and outer sanctuaries. After exploring Karnak, you take a boat trip along the Nile, then check into your 5-star hotel for the night. As evening falls, you return to Luxor Temple, which was built during the reigns of Amenhotep III and Rameses II and served as the focal point for the festival of Opet.

Day two begins with breakfast at the hotel, then moves to the West Bank: the burial ground of Egyptian rulers from the 18th to 20th dynasty. The Valley of the Kings holds the tombs of Ramses II, Tutankhamen and other pharaohs, many with decorations still intact after thousands of years. You'll also visit the Temple of Hatshepsut, built on three levels with central ramps connecting them, and see the Colossi of Memnon, a pair of colossal quartzite statues that are all that remain of a mortuary temple built for King Amenhotep III. After the West Bank tour, you're transferred back to Safaga Port in time for your ship.

Your guide is a qualified Egyptologist who speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French or another language, and tailors commentary to your interests. All transfers use modern air-conditioned vehicles, and the hotel stay, all entry fees, breakfast and guide services are included in the price.
