The experience
Karnak Temple anchors the east bank portion of the day. The precinct covers more than 100 hectares (an area larger than some ancient cities), and was built over hundreds of years by successive pharaohs including Amenhotep III, Ramses II and Tutankhamun. Your guide leads you through the temple complex with time to take in the scale and the detail of what remains. From there you move to Luxor Temple, also on the east bank, which was the largest and most significant religious center in ancient Egypt. Built by the same succession of pharaohs, it served as "the place of the First Occasion," where the god Amon was believed to experience rebirth during the pharaoh's annually reenacted coronation ceremony.
After lunch, the tour crosses the Nile to the west bank and enters the Valley of the Kings. The valley holds 63 royal tombs, many carved into the rock during the New Kingdom period (1550–1069 BC). The landscape is dominated by the pyramid-shaped peak of Al Qurn, known as The Horn. Your guide explains why the pharaohs chose this isolated valley for their burials, a practice that began around 2100 BC. The final stop is the Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir Al Bahri, where dramatic limestone cliffs rise nearly 300 meters above the desert plain. The temple itself is built partly into the rock face, and most of what stands today has been carefully reconstructed to match the original design.
Hotel pickup and drop-off bookend the day, and an air-conditioned vehicle handles all transport between sites. Your private guide speaks English throughout. Lunch is Egyptian and included. The full day runs 8 to 9 hours, so plan for an early start and a late return to your hotel.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (5 to 11 years). Children under 5 can't be included in the booking.
What is Karnak Temple and why is it so large?
Karnak Temple is an ancient Egyptian temple precinct on the east bank of the Nile in Luxor that covers more than 100 hectares: larger than some ancient cities. It was built over hundreds of years by multiple pharaohs including Amenhotep III, Ramses II and Tutankhamun, each adding to the complex.
What did Luxor Temple serve as in ancient Egypt?
Luxor Temple was the largest and most significant religious center in ancient Egypt, built by successive pharaohs over centuries. It was called "the place of the First Occasion," where the god Amon was believed to experience rebirth during the pharaoh's annually reenacted coronation ceremony.
How many royal tombs are in the Valley of the Kings?
The Valley of the Kings holds 63 magnificent royal tombs, carved into the rock during the New Kingdom period (1550–1069 BC). The valley was chosen for royal burials because of its isolated location, dominated by the pyramid-shaped mountain peak of Al Qurn.
What makes the Temple of Hatshepsut different from the other temples on this tour?
The Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir Al Bahri is built partly into the limestone cliffs that rise nearly 300 meters above the desert plain. The temple blends into the cliff face itself, and most of what you see today has been painstakingly reconstructed to restore the original design.
Does this tour include meals and hotel transport?
Yes, hotel pickup and drop-off are included, as is an Egyptian lunch during the day. An air-conditioned vehicle provides all transport between the four temple sites. Temple entry fees are paid separately at each site.
