Zipline through Puerto Plata on 8 ACCT-certified cables strung across tropical countryside at Country World Adventure Park in Maimón, a 15-minute drive from the city. Hotel pickup, trained guides in multiple languages, all equipment and water are included; the longest line runs 2,460 feet and requires no prior experience. After the zip lines, you can swim in the saltwater pool, try the pool zip line or walk the tropical garden before returning to your hotel.

The Experience

The day starts with pickup from your hotel in Puerto Plata or Sosúa/Cabarete, depending on which option you choose. The drive to Country World Adventure Park takes about 15 minutes. Once you arrive, the guides brief you on safety and fit you into your harness, attaching a bottle of fresh water so you stay hydrated through the activity. The eight zip lines are ACCT certified and built from double galvanized aircraft steel cable — the longest stretch is 2,460 feet, and the total run across all eight lines exceeds 7,900 feet. Unlike many zip line parks, you don't manage your own braking with gloves; the guides handle the mechanics so you focus on the ride itself.

No experience is required to book this. The guides are trained professionals who speak English, Spanish, French and German, and they're there to keep the pace safe and steady. Children as young as 3 can participate if accompanied by an adult, though the activity does require at least moderate physical fitness and there are weight limits (maximum 260 lbs, with specific measurements for waist and leg size). The uneven terrain of the park means it's not suitable for those with walking disabilities, and the activity is not recommended for pregnant travelers or anyone with spinal injuries or cardiovascular concerns.

After you finish the eight lines, you return to the park's facilities. The saltwater swimming pool is there to cool off in, and if you want more adrenaline, there's a pool zip line. The tropical garden is open to explore if you'd rather take it slower. Once you're ready, the guides drive you back to your hotel. The whole experience runs about three hours from pickup to drop-off. You'll need to sign a waiver before starting, and weather or other circumstances beyond the guides' control may require changes to the planned route — the guides make the final call on those decisions.
