You slide down seven natural limestone waterfalls, then fly over the jungle canopy on a high-speed circuit.
Ziplining in Puerto Plata combines two back-to-back adventures: a guided hike through rainforest to Damajagua Waterfalls, where you jump, swim and slide down seven natural limestone slides in helmet and life jacket. Then a zipline circuit over jungle valleys and rivers with a safety harness. A bilingual guide leads both activities, and a Dominican buffet lunch refuels you between them.

Step-by-step itinerary
Waterfalls hike, zipline, and lunch
- Hike through rainforest to waterfalls
- Slide, jump, and swim at waterfalls
- Fly on high-speed zipline circuit
- Enjoy Dominican buffet lunch
The experience
Damajagua Waterfalls sits in a natural amphitheater of rainforest and rock formations, and the hike to reach it takes you through that canopy before you arrive at the water. Once there, you put on a helmet and life jacket and work your way down seven limestone slides, jumping into pools between each one and swimming in the mountain river that feeds them. The water is cold and the slides are real, not groomed or smoothed, but the natural stone worn by centuries of flow. A certified guide stays with you through the whole sequence, and the pace is yours to set.
After you climb back out and change, the zipline circuit begins. You're fitted with a safety harness and sent out over a series of platforms strung through the canopy, gliding over valleys and the rivers you just swam in. The views open up as you move through the circuit, and the speed picks up on each run. This is not a single line but a full course, so you're moving between platforms and gaining height and distance as the morning goes on.
The buffet lunch arrives after both activities are done: typical Dominican food, included and served while you're already tired and hungry. An air-conditioned vehicle picks you up from your hotel and brings you back, and the whole sequence runs about five and a half hours from start to finish. A bilingual guide (English or Spanish) stays with you for both the waterfall hike and the zipline work, so there's no translation gap when you need to know how to move or where to step.

Is this one for you?The morning is physically active (you're hiking, climbing, jumping and ziplining back-to-back), so moderate fitness and comfort in water are what make it work. The fixed schedule runs both activities in sequence, so you're not choosing between them. You're doing both in one morning and eating when it's done.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and Spanish.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
How deep are the pools at Damajagua Waterfalls where I'll be jumping?
The pools at Damajagua Waterfalls vary in depth as you descend the seven slides, and the guide assesses each one with you before you jump. The water is mountain-fed and cold year-round, and you stay in a life jacket throughout, so depth is managed as part of the safety setup rather than left to chance.
What's the hike to the waterfalls actually like, is it steep or muddy?
The hike to Damajagua is described as ecological and rainforest-based, moving through the natural environment to reach the falls. You'll be in a helmet and life jacket for the water portion, so footwear and grip matter. The guide leads the way and sets the pace, and the route is designed for people with moderate fitness to handle it safely.
Do I need to know how to zipline, or will the guide teach me?
The zipline circuit is set up as a guided experience with certified instructors handling the safety harness and platform work. You don't need prior experience. The guide equips you and walks you through each section of the circuit before you move through it.
What happens if I'm not comfortable jumping off a waterfall?
The seven slides at Damajagua are optional. You can slide down instead of jumping, and you can swim in the pools without jumping at all. The guide works with what you're comfortable with, and the life jacket keeps you safe either way. The pace is yours to set at each waterfall.
Is the lunch included, or do I need to bring money?
A Dominican buffet lunch is included in the activity. It's served after both the waterfall hike and the zipline circuit, so you eat when the morning's work is done.
