The experience
What does it take to make a Belgian praline? The workshop answers that in 2.5 hours, starting with the techniques a live guide walks you through in English. You'll work with real chocolate and learn how to shape, fill and finish pralines the way they're made in Brussels, then move into mendiants, those flat chocolate discs studded with dried fruits. The guide is there the whole time, so when a step feels tricky, you get help on the spot.
You craft at least 30 chocolates yourself over the session. That's not a tour where you watch someone else work. You're the one handling the chocolate, making the decisions about flavor and shape. The workshop provides all the ingredients and equipment, so you show up empty-handed and leave with a box of chocolates you made. If you'd rather not wait, you can eat them right there with a cup of hot chocolate instead of taking them home.
The group stays small enough that the guide can give real attention, and every person who comes participates. There are no spectators. Kids as young as 12 can join, though anyone under 18 needs a responsible adult in the workshop with them, also making chocolates. Public transportation runs nearby if you're traveling without a car.
