The experience
Two to three hours on foot through Musi-oa Tunya National Park with a guide who knows where the animals move and what the bush holds. The walk is built around spotting white rhinos (rare enough that seeing them is the tour's main draw), but the park also holds giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, warthogs, primates, antelopes and elephants. The guide points out the flora too: teaks, mahoganies, mopanes and marula trees, the last one a food source elephants seek out.
This is an eco-friendly tour, which means you walk rather than drive through most of the park, leaving almost no carbon footprint. The route stays suitable for active, adventurous participants. The walking is the point, not a side effect. An air-conditioned vehicle handles transport to and from the starting point, and you get bottled water and snacks during the outing.
If you're coming from Zimbabwe, the guide meets you at the border and transfers you to the starting point for an additional fee. The tour runs with a live English-speaking guide and includes pickup from your location.
