The experience
The walk starts from your Livingstone hotel and heads into Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, where you'll move through the bush on foot rather than by safari vehicle. This approach lets your guide adjust the pace and focus to what interests you most, whether that's tracking the park's significant white rhino population, watching for elephants and buffalo, or noting the teak, mahogany, mopane and marula trees that shape the landscape. The park holds three of Africa's Big Five, and you're also likely to encounter giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, warthogs, primates and antelopes as the morning or afternoon unfolds.
Partway through the walk, you'll reach the Zambezi River, called Kasamba Bezi locally, where a break gives you time to watch hippos and ibis work the riverbanks. The guide points out the vegetation and animal behavior as you go, and because wildlife varies with the season and the day, no two walks are quite the same. Light snacks and bottled water come with you, and the air-conditioned vehicle handles the transfer to and from your hotel.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (4 to 11 years); Infant (under 4): free.
What animals am I likely to see on this nature walk?
Mosi-oa-Tunya is home to giraffes, zebras, warthogs, wildebeest, primates, antelopes, and a significant population of white rhinos. The park also holds elephant and buffalo, and during the mid-walk break at the Zambezi River you'll often spot hippos and ibis along the banks.
Why is a nature walk better than a safari drive?
Walking through the park is more eco-friendly and gives your guide the flexibility to adjust the route and pace based on what you want to see and where animals are that day. You move at a natural rhythm through the bush rather than staying in a vehicle, and the guide can focus on details (trees, bird calls, animal behavior) that a drive-by doesn't allow.
How long is the walk and what's the fitness level required?
The tour runs 3 hours total, including the mid-walk break at the river. It's suitable for all physical fitness levels, so you can book with confidence regardless of your experience with walking tours.
What's included in the price?
Hotel pickup and drop-off from Livingstone, national park entry fees, an air-conditioned vehicle for the transfer, a live English-speaking guide, light refreshments and bottled water during the walk are all included.
Can I choose a morning or afternoon departure?
Yes, you select either a 6:30am or 2:30pm start time when you book, so you can fit the walk around the rest of your day in Livingstone.
