The guy at the hotel desk laughed when I asked if I really needed a jacket in Dubai. "You'll see," he said, and he was right — the moment the doors open at Ski Dubai, the temperature drops and you're standing in actual snow, in the middle of the desert, which your brain doesn't quite accept at first. The entry ticket gets you into the Snow Park with full winter gear included: jacket, trousers, boots, gloves, and disposable socks so you're not sliding around in your own shoes. You walk straight onto the slopes or into the penguin area depending on what you booked, and there's no fussing with rental counters or figuring out what size you need — it's all sorted before you arrive if you pick the optional transfer from your hotel.

The slopes themselves are real. Not a simulation, not a gimmick — actual runs with varying difficulty, and the place is serious enough that they've been ranked in the world's top ten activities in Dubai for years. If you're an experienced skier or snowboarder, slope access is there waiting. If you're not, the chairlift ride alone is worth the ticket; you float over the whole park and see everything from above, which is when it hits you that you're actually skiing indoors in the Middle East. The mountain thriller ride is included too — it's faster, wilder, and the kind of thing that makes you grip the sides and laugh at the same time. Children under 13 have to wear helmets, and some rides have height and weight restrictions (the Snow Bullet, for example, requires kids to be at least eight years old, 125cm tall, and over 30kg). Infants under two aren't allowed, and if you're pregnant or have spinal or cardiovascular issues, this isn't the right fit. The optional transfer means you don't have to figure out how to get there or where to park; the driver handles it, and you just show up. If you're going solo or with a group, the transfer takes the logistics off your hands and gets you there on time — which matters because no-shows aren't rescheduled or refunded.
