The Experience

Hands grip the edge of a plastic toboggan, feet brace against packed snow, and then someone pushes off down a slope that shouldn't exist in the middle of Dubai. That's the Snow Park at Ski Dubai — 4,500 square meters of actual snow, kept at below-zero temperatures inside an indoor resort while the desert heat sits just outside the walls. Your ticket gets you unlimited access to the whole thing for a full day: sledding runs, tobogganing, a tubing run, bump cars, and a chairlift that takes you up for a view of the whole operation before you come back down.

The gear comes with you. Winter jacket, trousers, disposable socks, snow boots, and fleece gloves are all included — you show up in regular clothes and change into everything at the venue. Kids under 13 get helmets fitted automatically; adults can ride most things without one, though some activities have their own height and weight limits (the Snow Bullet Ride, for instance, needs riders to be at least eight years old, 125 centimeters tall, and over 30 kilograms). There's also an indoor ice cave to walk through, a giant ball to roll around in, and a bob sledge track if you want something faster. The Mountain Thriller ride rounds out the day — one included ride per ticket.

You'll get hungry at some point. Food and drinks can't come into the park with you, but there's the Avalanche Café and North 28 restaurant inside, both open from 10 a.m. to midnight. The whole resort sits near Dubai Metro stations, so getting there without a car is straightforward. Your e-ticket arrives by email the day before your visit — no printing needed, just show it on your phone at the gate. The ticket is locked to the date and time you book, and you'll need a valid ID when you arrive.
