The experience
The class starts with a market tour on the lunch and market options, where you pick fresh ingredients alongside your chef: learning what makes a dish work before you cook it. Back in the kitchen, you'll carve fruit and vegetables into garnishes, using the knives and techniques the chef demonstrates, then move into the cooking itself. Each session teaches 3 to 5 dishes: appetizers, soup, and a main course that changes daily depending on the day of the week and the program you chose. The chef speaks English and adjusts every dish to your taste: vegetarian, vegan, spicy or mild.
You cook in a group of no more than 12, which means you're not watching a demonstration. You're working at your own station. After the class ends, you sit down and eat everything you made, and you leave with a printed recipe book so you can remake the dishes at home. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included, and children can join from age 9 onward, though anyone under 9 who comes along pays a small extra fee to share the meal and transport.

Is this one for you?Choose the market tour lunch program if you want to understand where Thai ingredients come from and how to pick them. The lunch or dinner program alone works better if you want to focus on cooking technique without the extra stop. The 4-hour class fits a half-day slot in your Ko Lanta itinerary and works for families with children 9 and up.

What dishes will I cook in the lunch program?
The lunch program teaches 3 dishes that rotate daily: for example, deep-fried prawn spring rolls, clear soup with chicken or shrimp, and stir-fried chicken with holy basil on Tuesday, or papaya salad, clear spicy prawn soup, and green curry chicken soup on Thursday. The menu changes each day so you can return for a different class and learn new recipes.
Does the market tour lunch program include a visit to the local market?

A person who comes along but doesn't participate in cooking pays an extra fee: 600 Baht for the lunch program, 650 Baht for the market tour lunch program, or 700 Baht for the dinner program. That price includes their share of the food and transportation.
Is there a minimum group size to book the class?
Yes, at least 2 people are required to start a class. The maximum is 12 participants, so the group stays small enough that everyone has space to work and the chef can give attention to each cook.
