Lima Bike Tour: Huaca Pucllana, Miraflores & Market
Ride past Lima's layers: archaeology, ocean views, and a working market in one morning
This 3-hour bike tour of Lima combines urban neighborhoods, cultural landmarks and coastal scenery on two wheels. You'll pedal to Huaca Pucllana, a pre-Inca pyramid in Miraflores; ride through the district's parks and along its seafront boardwalk; stop at Surquillo market to sample exotic fruits; and finish with coffee overlooking the Pacific. A bilingual guide leads the route, and the bike, helmet, admission to Huaca Pucllana, water, juice and snacks are all included. The tour does not operate on Tuesdays, when you'd visit Huaca Huallamarca instead.
Step-by-step itinerary
Biking tour of Lima's highlights
- Visit Huaca Pucllana archaeological site
- Bike past city parks
- Ride along Miraflores boardwalk
- View Pacific Ocean at Miraflores waterfront
- Explore Surquillo market and try exotic fruits
- Enjoy coffee with ocean view
The Experience
Miraflores is an exclusive residential and commercial district south of downtown Lima, and this tour uses its streets and parks as the spine of the ride. You'll start by pedaling toward Huaca Pucllana, a pre-Inca pyramid that still stands in the middle of the neighborhood—a rare moment when archaeology sits inside a living city rather than in a museum or a ruin field. After walking the temple grounds, you'll get back on the bike and move through some of Lima's most manicured parks before the route opens onto the Miraflores boardwalk, where the Pacific comes into view and the pace slows.
The Surquillo market is where the tour shifts from sightseeing to tasting. This is a working market, not a tourist stall, and you'll have time to try several exotic fruits—the kind you won't find labeled in English. A bilingual guide handles the introductions and the names. After the market, the day ends at a restaurant with a view of the ocean, where you'll have coffee and snacks before heading back. The whole ride is 3 hours, and it's designed for all fitness levels; the pace is leisurely enough that you're not racing, but you are moving through the city on a bike rather than watching it from a bus.
Your bike and helmet are provided, along with accident insurance. Water, juice and a snack are included during the ride, and admission to Huaca Pucllana is covered in the price. Wear comfortable clothes and bring sunscreen if you're sensitive—you'll be outdoors for the full three hours. If you're booking for a Tuesday, the tour visits Huaca Huallamarca instead, since Huaca Pucllana closes that day.

What is Huaca Pucllana and why is it on this bike tour?
Huaca Pucllana is a pre-Inca pyramid temple located in the Miraflores district, and it's the archaeological centerpiece of the tour. You'll walk the temple grounds and see how this ancient structure sits inside modern Lima, then bike onward through the neighborhood's parks and waterfront.
Can I try the food at Surquillo market, or is it just a stop to look around?
You'll have the opportunity to taste several exotic fruits at Surquillo market. The guide will help you navigate the stalls and explain what you're trying, so it's a hands-on stop, not a viewing-only one.
How much of this tour is actually on the bike versus walking around?
Most of the 3-hour tour is spent riding through Lima's neighborhoods, parks and along the Miraflores boardwalk. You'll dismount to walk Huaca Pucllana and explore Surquillo market, then finish with coffee at a restaurant before returning.
Is this tour suitable if I haven't ridden a bike in years?
The tour is designed for all fitness levels, and the pace is leisurely rather than athletic. The route uses city streets and parks in a residential district, not mountain terrain or heavy traffic. Comfortable clothing and a willingness to ride for 3 hours are what matter most.
What happens if I book for a Tuesday?
Huaca Pucllana closes on Tuesdays, so the tour visits Huaca Huallamarca instead. The rest of the route—Miraflores, the parks, the boardwalk, Surquillo market and the final coffee—remains the same.
Is hotel pickup included in this tour?
Hotel pickup and drop-off are not included. Public transportation options are available near the tour's starting point, and you'll need to arrange your own way there and back.
