The Experience

Three and a half hours covers five distinct stops along Lima's coast, each one built for a camera. You start at the Chinese Park in Miraflores, a sheltered spot where the city meets the Pacific, then move to the lighthouse standing on the cliffs above—the views from there frame both the ocean and the city skyline. The Peace Bridge comes next, a narrow crossing surrounded by greenery and coastal panoramas that photographers return to again and again. After that, you drop down to the fishermen's area of Chorrillos for a different angle on the water, then climb to Morro Solar, one of Lima's highest viewpoints, where the light hits the ocean and the monuments differently than it does from the street.

Barranco closes the tour, and it is where the day shifts from views to color. The neighborhood is covered in murals and street art; you walk through the alleys where the work changes block to block, cross the Bridge of Sighs—a narrow iron footbridge that has been painted and repainted for decades—and move through the squares where the local rhythm is visible. The air-conditioned vehicle waits between stops, so you are not managing heat or fatigue between neighborhoods.
