The experience
The retreat centers on Abhyanga massage therapy, Shirodhara, Panchakarma and other classical Ayurveda treatments paired with daily yoga and meditation instruction. You learn and practice Hatha yoga, breathing techniques and chanting under guidance, while an Ayurveda doctor consults with you each day to tailor the therapies to your constitution. The combination of physical practice and rejuvenation treatments is designed to detoxify the body and mind, preparing you to connect with what the tradition calls your true center of peace.
The retreat occupies a building two minutes' walk from Thamel, Kathmandu's main tourism district, with restaurants and markets nearby. Your room has an attached bathroom and air-conditioning. The property includes a spa, steam bath, sauna, yoga hall and rooftop garden with 360-degree views of the city. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided daily, along with herbal tea and fresh fruit. Free Wi-Fi and currency exchange are available on-site.
The 14-day structure allows time for the body to respond to the treatments and for the yoga practice to deepen. You receive a lecture on Ayurveda and lifestyle alongside the daily therapies and classes, and the retreat operates in a family environment rather than as a large group. The property offers free counseling for tours and treks in the region if you want to extend your stay.
