Cook tagine in a Moroccan kitchen, then sit down to eat it with the family.

A private cooking class in Casablanca where you learn to make chicken and lamb tagine from a professional chef in her home, then share the meal you've prepared with her family. The experience runs about three hours and includes hotel pickup and drop-off. You can add a guided market tour in Lissasfa to buy fresh ingredients beforehand. Dietary options (vegetarian, vegan, lactose-free, gluten-free) are available with advance notice.

The experience

Fouzia, a professional cook trained at a local culinary school, teaches this class in her home kitchen with Mohamed, a licensed guide who speaks English, Spanish, French and Arabic. The experience mixes demonstration with hands-on work: you'll spend roughly an hour and a half learning to make two dishes from her family recipes (chicken tagine and lamb tagine) starting with prep work in the living room, then moving to the kitchen to watch and participate as Fouzia cooks. The meal that follows uses the ingredients you've prepared, served family-style with Moroccan salad, seasonal fresh fruit, mint tea and local pastry.

If you book the market option, Mohamed picks you up at your hotel and drives to the local market in Lissasfa, where he guides you through selecting fresh vegetables, fruits, meat and spices for the class. You'll walk back to the home from there. Without the market tour, pickup still happens at your hotel. You arrive at the house ready to start cooking. Either way, the class and meal take place in Fouzia's kitchen and dining space, a genuine local home rather than a commercial kitchen or restaurant.

Hotel pickup and drop-off are included in all options. Dietary needs (whether vegetarian, vegan, lactose-free or gluten-free) should be noted at booking so Fouzia can adjust the menu. Small children can come along, though the hands-on cooking happens at adult pace.

Is this one for you?Book the market option if you want to shop for ingredients yourself and understand where Moroccan cooks source their spices and produce. Skip it if you'd rather go straight to the kitchen and focus on the cooking and the meal. Either way, the class stays private to your group and the meal happens in a real home, not a restaurant.
