Ziplining and ATV Riding: Riviera Maya Jungle Adventure
Ride a two-passenger ATV into the jungle, then fly across the treetops.
This 6-hour activity in Riviera Maya combines ATV riding and ziplining in the Mayan jungle with a swim in an underground river. You ride a 450cc CAN-AM ATV (the only two-passenger model approved in the destination), fly on a zipline above the jungle canopy, and finish with a buffet lunch. Hotel pickup and drop-off, a professional guide in English, Spanish or French, helmet, and air-conditioned transport are included. Riders must be at least 16 years old; passengers can be as young as 8. Basic swimming skills are required, and the activity demands moderate physical fitness.
The Experience
You start the morning with hotel pickup and a ride in an air-conditioned minivan to the jungle site. Once there, you get a 450cc CAN-AM ATV—a two-passenger model, which means you can bring someone along to share the ride or go solo, depending on which option you choose at checkout. The guide leads you across uneven jungle terrain, navigating through the Mayan forest on a route designed to show you the landscape without requiring advanced riding skills. The ATV handles the rough ground; you handle the throttle.
After the ride, you move to the zipline section. You're harnessed and sent across the jungle canopy on a series of lines that take you above the treetops. The final part of the activity is a swim in an underground river with crystal-clear water—a cenote, though the source doesn't use that word. You'll need basic swimming ability for this section. Bring a bathing suit and water shoes; the guide and the included helmet stay with you through each part.
The day wraps with a buffet lunch of real Mexican cuisine before the minivan takes you back to your hotel. The whole experience runs 6 hours from start to finish. Bring comfortable clothes, sunglasses, a hat, a towel, and biodegradable sunscreen; cash is useful for tips and any extras you want to buy. If you're booking less than 24 hours before your date, you'll need to provide your hotel information so pickup can be confirmed.
