Step-by-step itinerary

Adventure activities in Mayan Jungle Rush

  • Travel to Mayan Jungle Rush
  • Zipline through the trees
  • Cross hanging suspension bridges
  • Ride ATV on jungle trails
  • Swim or zipline in cenote
  • Return to base and view photos
  • Travel back to Cancun or Riviera Maya

The Experience

You get picked up at your Cancun or Riviera Maya hotel and driven to Mayan Jungle Rush, where the day splits into four separate activities back-to-back. The zipline circuit comes first: you clip into a harness and move through the canopy on four separate lines, then cross hanging bridges that test your balance while the forest spreads out below. After you're back on solid ground, you trade the harness for an ATV and follow a guide down rugged jungle trails for 30 minutes, bumping over rocks and roots with thick forest on both sides. The cenote is the finale—an open freshwater pool inside a massive limestone cave system where you can zipline in, cliff-jump, or take stairs down to the water. Depending on which option you book, you also get 30 minutes of horseback riding worked into the sequence.

The whole day runs four hours from pickup to drop-off. A guide leads the group in English or Spanish; tequila tasting is included at the base before you head back. The operator provides insurance for the ATV, covers the conservation fee, and handles the round-trip transport. Wear closed shoes for the ziplines—they're required for safety. The cenote water is cool and fresh, fed by underground springs, so bring a change of clothes or a swimsuit under what you wear. Photos from the day are available for purchase if you want them.

Booking a private option means you and your group ride together without mixing with other travelers; a shared booking puts you with other visitors on the same schedule. Both formats include the same activities and guide. If horseback riding matters to you, check which option you're selecting at checkout—some include it, others don't. Children from age 4 can join, though they need to be comfortable on an ATV and in the water. The weight limits are 286 pounds for ziplines and 264 pounds for horseback riding.

Top questions

Can I do the cenote without the ATV and ziplines?

No, the cenote is the final activity in a fixed sequence that includes all four: ziplines, hanging bridges, ATV riding, and cenote swimming. You can't book just the cenote alone on this pass.

What's the difference between the Cancun and Playa del Carmen pickup options?

Cancun pickup serves hotels in Cancun and the wider Riviera Maya area; Playa del Carmen pickup is for hotels in that town. Both routes end at the same jungle park and include the same activities. Choose based on where your hotel is located.

Is the horseback riding included in every option?

No, horseback riding is optional and depends on which purchase option you select at checkout. Some options include 30 minutes of riding; others don't. Check the option details before booking if horseback riding is important to you.

What happens if I'm not a strong swimmer?

The cenote has stairs down into the water, so you don't have to jump or zipline in. You can enter at your own pace and stay in the shallow areas if you prefer. The water is calm and open to the sky, not a confined cave.

Do I need any experience with ATVs or ziplines?

No prior experience is required. A guide leads the ATV ride and shows you how to use the zipline harness before you go up. The operator does ask that you have at least a moderate level of physical fitness, since you're riding ATVs over rough terrain and moving through the canopy on lines.

How long is the ATV ride, and how difficult is the trail?

The ATV ride lasts 30 minutes and follows rugged jungle trails with rocks and roots. It's not a smooth path, but the guide sets the pace. You'll be surrounded by thick forest the whole time.
